Waist not

Is the high waist trend run it's course already? It seems like just yesterday I was buying my high-waisted, wide leg trouser jeans. The new trend emerging is the drop waist. And not only just dresses, but shirts and sweaters as well are sporting the falling waist line. I've spotted this poplar trend on the runway and in stores like Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Gap, Old Navy, and Victoria's Secret PINK. A drop waist is a great way to balance the lower and upper body and give the impression of height. Designers like BCBG and Marc Jacobs have succumb to the trend.

The drop waist was popular back the in the 1920's. We all can recall the image of a flapper. Signature drop waist dresses, layered with pearls and gems, this period of fashion was fueled with prohibition, crime, and parties. With the popularity of the bob haircut, it's obvious for shift dress to be the perfect complement.

If you arn't looking to pay upwards of $200, there are some great places to find this perfect summer look for less. Try this Victoria's Secret printed smock dress. It's the perfect beach cover-up and it's on sale! (Spend the rest on some bangles or nice sunglasses!)

So, what do you guys think? Natural or drop waist? Leave 'em in the comments.
